Created a pool for the ducklings
Today was a fun day creating a small wading pool for ducklings. I dug a small hole with two levels of dirt allowing even the smallest duckling to enjoy the water. All you need is a shovel, heavy duty plastic, and imagination. In no time your ducks will be able to beat even the hottest days.

Ameraucana Mating Habits
One thing that I learned with Ameraucana chickens is the aggressiveness towards their mating habits in the coop. When one Rooster gets on top, the entire group of roosters follow along. Take my advice regarding to Ameraucanas. Try to keep them separate from other types of hens. At least in my case, I find that to be the best option. I had to rescue a hen from getting torn up due to over mating from the roosters. Always remember, have more hens than roosters in any coop

New babies coming from our babies
We have a sale going on since we have an abundance of quails. Our original quails are laying eggs and as a test run decided to hatch some eggs. Out of all the eggs I put in the incubator, we are having a 90% hatch success rate. Also from our puffy but and isa brown mix, we are getting new chicks added to our family. Come take a look and pick some out. We need to make room for our new additions.

Slow growing quails
It's amazing what happened with some 100 quail eggs we ordered through ebay. Bob White quails will generally hatch after 21 days. After 23 days I was getting ready to give up and trash the whole batch. I decided to wait longer to remove them from our incubator and to my surprise after 1.5 months of waiting, the quails started hatching. Anyone that has hatched eggs understand that generally you will have about a 75% - 80% hatch rate. So far about 60% of our quails hatched

Our baby turkeys
It's amazing how quickly our turkeys have grown from coming out of the eggs to where they are now. Seems like just yesterday they hatched and with the right non gmo organic feed, they are almost as big as our adult turkey. With fear of hawks in our area, we don't let them free roam and we build huge cages to allow them to roam without fear. We are getting ready to build another runner behind our chicken runner to give them the space to frolic.

A true field of dreams: one farmer's story
Hard work, love for what you do, and a passionate sight for a healthy life. This is what farming is all about. Since I was young, I worked on our family farm all summer long from morning to night. Of course I was much younger with more energy. We moved to South Carolina and discovered a new love for Organic food and a healthier life.
